I'm sure you're all aware of the DC relaunch happening this September with the 52 books starting from #1. I'm being part of this historic event and the new Superman family as the artist for the new Supergirl title. Here's the blurb from the official DC blog;
Supergirl's got the unpredicatable behaviour of a teenager, the same powers as Superman and none of the affection for the people of earth. Writers Michael Green and Mike Johnson (Smallville, SUPERMAN/BATMAN) will team up with artist Mahmud Asrar to give a new take on the teenager from Krypton in SUPERGIRL #1.
I was never really into Supergirl, but when I saw this cover I knew I had to start collecting the series. Goes to show that story does count for some, but art counts for a lot. Thanks for doing this series!
See, the only thing I don't like about this is the design itself - and even then, it's just the one thing. Just from a design perspective, it seems odd to have the crotch-patch/red bit/thing jutting out from the main 'hem', if you see what I mean. Going by how the legs move, it just seems counter-intuitive to what you'd want in order to be as mobile and able to respond to danger as possible, which would be a smooth line. However, that's Jim Lee's thign, not yours. in terms of the art itself? Awesome. I really have nothing that I can say about the quality of work that you haven't already heard, but it is truly awesome.
I never cared much about the Supergirl character until you and your team got together. Honestly, my favourite series from DC at the moment. I hope you stay with this title.
I kept seeing this cover and thinking, 'I really like that style she's drawn in.' This is such a cool piece of work, amazing job. Sorry I'm a bit late, but major congratulations to you.
f it is alright with you, I would very much like to use this in a slide show video I plan on making for YouTube. If you say yes I will make sure to put your name in the credits or on the pic, or pics, that are yours. Depending on which you prefer. With a link back to your DA page in the description. What do you think?
